VI Laura Luelmo Award for Contemporary Art

For Gender Equality and Against Violence Against Women

Objectives, Call and Award Rules

As in previous editions, the Equality Unit of the University of Salamanca in collaboration with the Cultural Activities Service and the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University already mentioned and the Junta de Castilla y León (Social Services Management), called in memory to Laura the “VI LAURA LUELMO AWARD FOR CONTEMPORARY ART FOR GENDER EQUALITY AND AGAINST VIOLENCE ON WOMEN 2025.

The VI LAURA LUELMO award for contemporary art seeks to promote equality between women and men and prevent and eradicate violence against women, paying tribute to Laura and to all women victims of this violence and to those who fight from different areas to achieve a real and effective equality.

The competition was held on October 25, 2025. Thirty two works from various forms of contemporary visual and plastic arts participated: painting, sculpture, drawing, engraving, photography or audiovisuals. The deadline for submitting them was from February 9 to 11. The ocation for submitting entries, at the Salamanca Museum (C/ Fonseca, 2. Salamanca).

Jury decision, award ceremony and opening of the exhibition

The Jury, which met together, selected the award-winning work and the two runners-up on February 13, 2026. The decision was made public on the USAL website, on the Equality Unit website, on the Cultural Activities Service website, and on the USAL Faculty of Fine Arts website.

On March 13, at a public act, attended by Laura’s family, the awards were presented to the award-winning artists: Silvia Camuria Fernández, Laura González Pérez, María Madrid López y Sergio Romero Fernández (Colectivo Promiscuas) for “Cómo no amar (según tus artistas favoritos) (2026)” (First Prize) and secondary awards to Elena Pérez Cuesta for “Drag Femmage (2026)”, to Laura García Méndez, for “¿Y qué llevaba?” and to Carlota Irazusta Galán & Guadalupe González Rey, for “Lo que escuchas cuando estás en la calle y es de día y no hay problema pero luego se hace de noche y no hay dinero para un taxi (que ojo también con el taxi)”. At the end of this act, the inauguration of the exhibition proceeded.

Selected works

The exhibition with the award-winning works and the rest of the selected works can be visited in the Experimental Space Exhibition Hall of the Hospedería Fonseca between March 13 and May 17, 2026.  Visiting hours will be from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 16:00 to 20:00; and on Sundays and holidays, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
