Objectives, Call for Entries and Award Rules
On 5 November 2020, el Departamento de Lengua Castellana y Literatura del IES Vázquez Díaz (Nerva), with the collaboration of the Plan de Igualdad and the Pacto de Estado contra la Violencia de Género, announced the “I LAURA LUELMO Literary Competition” against Gender Violence.
This competition was organised in memory of the young teacher Laura Luelmo who, a week after joining the school as a teacher, was savagely assaulted and murdered on 12-12-2018 in the village of El Campillo, where she had settled just a few days earlier because of her proximity to her workplace. The aim of the competition is to contribute to the fight against gender violence through education and social awareness
All the students of the IES Vázquez Díaz were able to participate in the competition, with works of the most varied literary genres: poetry, letters, opinion articles, personal reflections or testimonies, Twitter messages… The deadline for submitting the works was 25 November, the International Day against Gender Violence.

Laura, you are living today in the emotional words that have been said in this loving and significant act. You are living as well in the memory of your classmates, your students, in your drawing room, in the classrooms of the IES of Nerva that collected your last steps, your last ideas, your last projects…. You live in the memory of all of us who raise our voices against violence. Laura, your spirit is IN and BETWEEN us
